People have many different definitions for a hero. Whether it'd be their father, mother, or someone with super powers. Ordinary or not, everyone could be a hero. A hero is someone who is willing to give up his own safety to do good for others. He is inspiring, courageous, and passionate. A hero is someone who has done great deeds for someone else, maybe a community, or even one person.

In Ancient times, people would tell stories to help explain what was inexplicable to them. The stories would carry on, and in most cases one man would stand out from the other characters in the story, becoming the hero. Many times, warriors were seen as heroes because of their courage, strength, and physical fitness that made them appear to be more "hero" material than that of other men.

This concept date back hundreds of years ago. People drew these "heroes" on walls in caves, various books, and many different media. They used these stories to communicate with others, teach lessons, and perhaps leave something behind.

Some examples of heroes are:
hercules.jpg. Hercules, a mythological Greek hero, was known for his incredible strength. He was mortal, but was known to be the son of Zeus, a Greek god. He was well known for his "twelve labors" which were strenuous tasks that he needed to accomplish before becoming immortal, such as killing the hydra, a multi-headed mythological creature

Perseus-and-Medusa-greek-mythology-687297_1024_768.jpgPerseus, another hero of Greek myth, was known for his courage and dexterity. With it, he was capable of killing medusa, the snake-haired woman.

Maui_fishes_up_the_North_Island_big.jpgAs these heroes showed courage and strength, a local mythological figure, Maui, was known for bringing the hawaiian islands into existence. According to legend, he used a fish hook to pull the whole island chain out of the sea. This legend was used as a way to possibly explain the origin of the islands.

Andrew Tran: passionate. born on july 25. He plays football for Moanalua high school's varsity team. He enjoys photography, and aspires to make that his career after high school.

Mitchel Viernes: perfectionist. He paddles for Moanalua high school's paddling team. He enjoys the art of film making and is aspired to be the steven Spielberg of our time.
